We are on a mission to change the way the world learns by putting the world's best AI tools in the hands of every educator and learner.

About Classwise

Learning should be active, engaging, and personalized to every learner. But too often, it's centered around passive consumption of content with little incorporation of the pedagogical practices that make learning stick. Classwise is on a mission to change that. We are building a next-generation learning platform that puts the world's best AI tools in the hands of every educator and learner. Our goal is to make learning more active, engaging and personalized, regardless of whether it's in-person, online or hybrid.

Guiding Principles

We believe deeply in power of learning to transform lives, communities, and the world.

The guiding principles that drive our work are:
  • Following pedagogical practices proven to work. Classwise's AI assistant enables educators to implement pedagogical best practices proven effective by decades of education research.
  • Using AI safely and responsibly. Classwise uses the safest AI models available and learns from instructors' own content to minimize risk of incorrect or inappropriate content.
  • Keeping instructors in the driver's seat. Educators have full oversight of all learner interactions in Classwise.
  • Protecting the privacy of our educators & students. Classwise is compliant with FERPA and COPPA and committed to protecting the privacy of our users.
  • Equitable access to the world's best learning tools. Classwise aims to bring the benefits of safe, world-class AI to all learners and educators. As a public benefit company, we strive to make our tools affordable to every educator.

Origins of Classwise

Classwise was originally developed in late 2022 by Jon Reifschneider, a professor in Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering. The Classwise platform was placed into a public benefit corporation Classwise P.B.C. in 2023 to bring Classwise to educators everywhere.
